one inspiring lady
No. This is not my hand! But, it could be, right? I am a girl whom likes to get down and dirty and do stuff. By hand. Making things can be so gratifying. I think I get that from Mo & Jo Po. (Morris & Jo Ann Postlewate, mis padres. Thanks Mom & Dad! I know that it is because of you that I am not afraid to take anything apart and am continuously determined to make crafty...

good on others
Our recent trip to Nicaragua in the quaint beach town of Gigante has us missing new friends. There are several amazing Americans setting up camp down there and giving back to the community in a harmonizing way. In a town of 450 people with very primitive living foundations, you can imagine how tourism can potentially evolve their everyday lives—some for the better, as there is increasingly...

right spot, right time
Spotty internet connections are not such a bad thing. I think it’s best that we were unable to ‘connect’ to our security blankets and news coverage. It allows you to disconnect in more ways than one and open up to your immediate surroundings - the people drifting about alongside you, the sun and heat pulsing through you, and the sounds - frogs, cicadas, chickens, the offshore...

inspiration
What inspires us? I know it is different for everyone, and can even be more complex than just a simple image or thought. It depends on the day, the moment, whom you are with, the music…oh, the music.
Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the company, maybe the setting.
Either way, I’m feelin’ Texas.
“Yeah, everybody gotta get away sometime,
Forget about...

lil' packs
The clever fanny pack of the 80’s has rebirthed into something ‘hip’ and cool (well, at least I think so).
Selena first clued me in to Kucoon, an LA based clothing/accessory brand. She came over one afternoon wearing this extremely hip, AND functional belt. It seemed so fresh & new. Not only was the leather belt rather eye-catching with it’s aged look and great...

don't give up
It’s been a good (rephrase…great) week.
*I successfully gained some ground on a small ‘battle’ at work. After feeling defeated for months, I rebounded to delightfully discover some energy in myself that had been hiding for some time. Things appear to be working in my favor.
*Also, I was able to squeeze in a few workouts. Always good for the soul.
*It rained quite...
short night? early morning?
I rarely have those nights where you just cannot drift away. I always felt pretty lucky that I could sleep well. Not so, in this past rotation of the earth.
I found myself staring out the window, trying to determine if the leaves were moving, or not. Was the dim light from the moon or the light of a nearby building? Am I ever going to sleep tonight? Am I doing the right things at work? Am I...

garden cupcakes
Economical & plantable seed starters:
Make your own:
Take the newspaper flyer on your doorstep and place in a cake pan with 1/2” water. Leave the paper submerged in water for a few seconds (enough to fully wet the paper, but not too long that it rips apart). Taking one sheet at a time, fold in half so you have 2 layers of paper and line a large cupcake mold. Use a pint glass to...

spring in your step?
With Spring now officially among us, today is anything but that. Where’s our sunshine? After a week in ‘Russia’ (not really, we just refer to a hasty attitiude, or reacting hurriedly to everything…as if we are from ‘Rush-a’), we just expect a little sun to go with our Saturday morning coffee.
Below are a few quotes/textual inspirations (is textual a word?) I...

where's the beef?
Who wants fresh beef? I am finding it harder to trust the Von’s down the corner. Not only are the lines ridiculously long and the clientele is gritty, but don’t you expect to buy fresh-everything at the grocery? Sometimes it seems as though going out to eat is more fresh than the store.
I have been obsessed with wanting to buy a cow. No, not to come live with us. I want to...
miracle oil
My hairdresser at The Lab turned me on to this amazing hair product a few months ago…
Although this is not normally the kind of thing I post about, I love it so much that I felt compelled to share.
It’s Moroccan Oil. It has saved my hair from some serious dry rot, as I was finding the longer my blonde mane grew it also became more and more unmanageable. I apply a small amount...

Manos
Here’s an update from the post about my knitting session last weekend on Spartina. I finished it! My friend comes to San Diego in a week and I cannot wait to give it to her.
The yarns have a cool story—the brand of yarn is Manos del Uruguay. There is no website, so I’ll recap what is on the hangtag. Manos de Uruguay means ‘The Hands of Uruguay’. It is a...

from the garden
Barrett went to a western square dancing party this weekend with our friend’s daughters. I made these corsages for Ashley and Megan using flowers from the garden:
I cut only the most crisp flowers, wrapped the stems together with 1/8” satin ribbon, and attached them to a 5/8” colored elastic for tying at the wrist.

anything but….
This here video is anything BUT professionally edited, cool, seamless, flawless, (insert terrible adjective here). However, it WAS done from my phone. It’s technically my 2nd video edit EVER, compressed into the smallest, worst quality EVER. :) enjoy!

nautical obsession
I have found my newest obsession very inspiring over this past month. The photos are always serene, the artwork/phrases encourage a smile, and the colors calming. Plus, the name is funny. Sailor Hoes & Nautical Bros.

Journal, Journal. Out in space.
Oh, here I am. I was looking for myself.
It’s amazing to me. To think that I can get lost by just living the days, and how quickly they start to mesh together. Before I can blink twice a month floats by. Frustration sets in. I wonder what I have been doing with myself. Oh, work. & some fun, but mostly work. But, I don’t even have any true responsibilities in the...

I only wish...
Image via faithful Wikipedia.
I am not sure if this urge was brought upon more from recent sailing obsessions, or from being purposefully stranded in the desert for 3 days. Both surfaced 1) extremely quiet nights (aside from the noise brought own by one’s own selves, partaking in one’s own party), and 2) very dark nights. So, it has only been obvious that I would wish to go back...
